1. Expressing Cause (التعبير عن السبب والعلة)
تنقسم أدوات السبب في اللغة الإنجليزية إلى مجموعتين رئيسيتين حسب طبيعة التركيب الذي يليها:
أ) أدوات يتبعها جملة فعلية كاملة (Subject + Verb):
Rule: [because / since / as] + Subject + Verb + Object
- Many commercial businesses collapsed because they engaged in financial fraud.
- Since the government tightened customs control, counterfeiting has decreased.
- As education is free for all citizens, literacy rates have rapidly increased.
ب) أدوات يتبعها اسم أو مصدر فعلي (Noun Phrase / Gerund):
Rule: [because of / due to / owing to / thanks to] + Noun Phrase / Verb-ing
- The international flight was delayed because of the heavy fog.
- Many families suffer due to severe poverty and unemployment.
- Thanks to strict new regulations, counterfeit medicines were confiscated.
💡 تحويل ذكي في البكالوريا:
إذا أردت استخدام جملة كاملة (Subject + Verb) بعد due to أو because of، أضف العبارة: the fact that:
"He succeeded due to the fact that he worked conscientiously."
2. Expressing Result (التعبير عن النتيجة)
تتنوع صيغ التعبير عن النتيجة في شهادة البكالوريا بين الروابط التلازمية وروابط الجمل:
أ) قاعدة (so ... that):
تُستعمل عندما تقع بينهما صفة (Adjective) أو ظرف (Adverb) بمفرده:
Subject + Verb + so + [Adjective / Adverb] + that + Clause
- The exam was so difficult that many pupils could not finish on time.
(كان الامتحان صعباً لدرجة أن الكثير من التلاميذ لم يتمكنوا من إنهائه في الوقت المحدد).
- Counterfeit drugs spread so rapidly that international health agencies took action.
ب) قاعدة (such ... that):
تُستعمل عندما توجد صفة متبوعة باسم موصوف (Adjective + Noun):
Subject + Verb + such + (a/an) + [Adjective + Noun] + that + Clause
- It was such a corrupt company that all international investors withdrew their money.
(كانت شركة فاسدة لدرجة أن جميع المستثمرين سحبوا أموالهم).
- They are such dishonest salesmen that nobody buys from their shop anymore.
ج) روابط النتيجة بين الجمل المستقلة:
تُستعمل الكلمات التالية للربط بين جملتين للدلالة على النتيجة، مع الانتباه لعلامات الترقيم:
- Consequently, (وبناءً على ذلك)
- Therefore, (ولذلك)
- As a result, (كنتيجة لذلك)
- Thus, (وهكذا)
مثال تطبيقي:
- Corruption undermines public trust**; therefore,** citizens demand absolute transparency.
- He studied with extreme dedication**. Consequently,** he achieved the highest mark in the province.
